Wild Baby Bunny Enjoys a Flower

Who doesn’t just love tiny bunnies.  They are so sweet and so cute you just want to hug them and hold them.

Unfortunately a lot of rabbits end up in animal shelters because they are bought on impulse around Easter time and are not wanted when the purchaser realizes take a lot of care and expense just like any other pet.  I blame the buyers of these poor rabbits but I actually place more blame on the breeders of the animals and the stores that carry them.  Too often these stores sell the rabbit as if it were another Easter accessory like chocolate eggs or peeps.  Baby chicks and ducklings seem to fall prey to the same kind of merchandising.  The retailers must learn that living animals are not simple merchandise and stop the practice of selling them onto buyers who will end up taking them to an animal rescue.

But putting those things aside for the moment, we still all have to say we have been at least tempted to purchase a cuddly little rabbit.  They are just too darn cute for their own good.

The little rabbit in the video below is no exception.  He has an abundance of cute.  He also has a passion for eating flowers.  Watch the video as he eats the flower then cleans himself after his meal.  But remember to curb your sugar intake for the rest of the day.  This little guy will quickly put you over your daily allotment of sweets.

Oh, I forgot to mention that this is a wild rabbit that was rescued.

I just love how he has pollen on his lips as he eats the flower. He looks good in yellow though, doesn’t he?

Cute Animal Videos

Today is another windy day when I have to post between electrical power surges. Gee…I hope this wind goes away soon so things get back to normal and I don’t have to worry about losing all my electronic equipment.

Today, in order to take advantage of sunset when the winds die down for about an hour, I am going to put up two of the cutest animal videos I have ever seen.

The first one is of a rabbit eating a banana and obviously enjoying the sweet treat.

When I move I might just think about getting a pet rabbit because rabbits are just about the cutest little animals and to my understanding they would get along quite well in the new home I am planning. I’ll have to let you all in on the new pets we adopt after the move. It will be an exciting time. Maybe I will even upload a few videos of the pets.

This next one is of an elk, yes, I said elk who is having a great time in her wild environment. She has found a puddle and makes the most of her discovery.

Isn’t the elk just the cutest thing. She is so very care free and delighted just to play in a little bit of water.  I have seen young horses and even a few older ones do this in small puddles.  But I must admit, I never thought of an elk playing in a puddle.

Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be back to normal breezes again and I hope I can bring you a post I have been working on for awhile now as long as there is time. We shall see.

Enjoy the cute animal videos and be careful not to get a sugar overdose from them.

Cutest Bunny Ever

How cute am I? Well, maybe there aren't enough words to describe my cuteness.

I have seen pets do lots of tricks. Usually the best are ones the animal by nature is prone to do anyway. You know, like teaching a goat to butt a specific target.  They are going to butt anyway so teaching them a cute or funny truck with it is easier than if they were not prone to butt.

Now I will be the first to admit I do not know that much about rabbits.  I have always wanted to have a bunny for a pet, but because of the fact we always had dogs, my parents drew a line in the sand where bunnies were concerned.

The rabbit in the video below is just, as they say, as cute as a bunny.  He naturally would chew paper and the rabbit’s human put the tendency to work in the most ingenious way.

Watch it to see what I mean.  I’m going to watch it again and probably again after that because I think this is one of the videos that will make me laugh every time I see it and today I could use a few more laughs.

Rabbit-Cat Love

Don't you just want to reach out and pet this beautiful rabbit? Talk about some fluffy feet! Or is he wearing slippers?

I have to frankly admit, I do not know that much about rabbits.  They’re cute, they’re furry and they were all over the stories my mother read to me when I was very small, not to mention the cartoons I watched when I got a little older.  That is about the extent of my bunny familiarity.

However, I have read a little about rabbits as pets and they appear to be great companions.  Although small children aren’t a good idea around them.  Kids or anyone else can hurt bunnies by picking them up incorrectly.  They also tend to become  nervous in noisy or hectic surroundings.  That means a lot of kids running around might not be too good for a rabbits mental health.

Anyway, I have never had a rabbit as a roommate, so I have no firsthand knowledge of these animals.  If I ever realize my dream of a place where I can have pets as I see fit, I will probably have a bunny.  They intrigue me and I would like to learn a lot more about them.  Besides, they are so warm, furry and cute I am inescapably drawn to them.

I know there are a lot of rabbit shelters that specialize in the rescue of bunnies.  So naturally, if I am ever in a place where I can have a rabbit, I will adopt from a rescue.

That said, I have always been around cats.  Growing up there was usually a cat or cats around my home and I grew up loving and respecting these unique animals.  But I also know that barn cats and feral cats hunt rabbits.  So I have always thought of cats and rabbits more as predator and prey than best pals.

This might explain why I was intrigued by the video below.  Obviously this well fed cat doesn’t want to chomp the cute little rabbit.  It seems the rabbit has no fear and is only interested in getting cleaned up before bedtime.  What a cute video!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Happy Easter Weekend!

Fluffy feet would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our readers a very happy Easter weekend.  I also want to caution you about getting ridiculous with the candy.  Just remember, everything in moderation.

I trust most of my readers know enough to not buy  little bunnies and chicks at this time unless you are aware of how to take care of them already and have a home environment they can live in.  Rabbits really don’t make the right pet for everyone.

Please remember, you can’t just purchase a little rabbit then let it loose once you are done with it.  Domesticated rabbits are not equipped to get along without our assistance and it is almost certainly a death sentence to just let them go.

If for some reason, you do happen to end up with a rabbit after Easter, please remember there are rescues that specialize in taking care of  and re-homing these animals.  You can also contact your local ASPCA.  They will assist you with doing the right thing for the little fuzzball.

There are also two sites listed under friends on the front page of this site that contain information about domestic rabbits.  They are Make Mine Chocolate and The House Rabbit Society.  These sites will give you information on care, vets and rescue.  Although I hope you don’t get a little rabbit unless you already know about them, if you do these sites should be able to give you good information.  Please do the right thing.

Enjoy Easter!!!!!
