The nail was located between the cats eyes on his forehead. The vet thinks it was from a nail gun. If the nail would have entered a millimeter off in any direction, the cat would have died. It is most likely the cat will lose an eye. They are now actively looking for the perpetrator of this cruelty.
Animals are quite resilient. However, I for one would like to see them use their resiliency to fight off health problems or accidental injury rather than cruelty and abuse. You will never convince me that intentional cruelty to animals is justified in any way whatsoever.
What could a beautiful young cat have done to be shot with a nail between its eyes? My guess is nothing the cat did brought on this cruel attack. I think the cat was just a handy target that could not get away.
Sad to say, the chances of the authorities finding the person who did this are not great. If that person is found, they should be severely punished. But we all know the law in most parts of this country do not take animal abuse and cruelty seriously enough.
It is likely the guilty party will never really pay for his actions. If I were them though, I would certainly not allow myself to be alone with an animal lover who had a nail gun.

Just as he does every day, last Wednesday, Officer Jake Appel responded to a routine injured animal call. But what he discovered sitting under a truck at the 500 block of Center Street in Sioux City, Iowa, was anything but routine.
He was faced with a cat that “had a three and a half inch nail right in the middle of her head,” Appel tells PEOPLEPets.com. “I didn’t think anyone in this city was that mean. I didn’t think the cat was going to survive either.”
Though she must have been in unimaginable pain, the cat, later dubbed Grace, acted like any other stray, Appel recalls. “She was purring and wagging her tail,” he says. “She just had a nail in her head.”

Why do people do things like this? It is stupid, unnecessary and totally unfeeling toward fellow beings. Any person who could do this certainly should not be trusted or relied upon for anything.
If you will excuse me, now I am going to go to my living room and sit in my favorite chair with my beautiful cat. After seeing this story, I just want to feel his furry body in my lap. He likes to be gently rocked as he is pampered and petted. What a baby – you better believe it, he even cries if I stay on the computer too long or I don’t feed him on time.
