Kitten Shot by Trooper

There are some things that are just too over the line to be believed.  This is one of those things.

On his birthday a North Carolina child is given a kitten for his very own pet.  He takes care of it and loves it and the kitten is now five months old.  But he happens to have a neighbor who is a  North Carolina State Trooper and the kitten jumps on the mans vehicles.

Cats and kittens do jump onto vehicles and most people take it in stride.  But our Trooper uses the paw prints as an excuse to trap and then shoot the kitten to death.  Seems like the punishment doesn’t fit the crime at all!  I would put the Trooper’s actions in the category of animal cruelty.

The Trooper was fired by his employer and criminally charged.  That is as it should be in my opinion.

Now the Trooper is appealing his termination and getting his job back is not as it should be.  Our friends at Care2, The Petition Site have a petition they would like to get signed by a lot of people.  It will go to the authorities in North Carolina to let them know a lot of us out here do not think this man should be a member of law enforcement anywhere, ever.

People who carry a gun and have authority over others must have good judgement.  They must be cool and calm in the face of emergencies and know when force is justified and when it is not.  Anyone who would kill a kitten for the infraction of walking on his vehicles should never be allowed to carry a weapon he could use against people or animals who might rile his temper.  At the very least the mans temperament is not suitable for someone who may be called upon to make life and death decisions.

Please take a minute to sign the petition and let the NC authorities know how you feel about this matter.  You can find the petition here.

Thanks for taking the time to speak out and thank you for all you do for animals and the environment.
