I think it is a nice thing to have a Love Your Pet Day, especially following so close on Valentines Day. I know most of us love our pets each and every day so it seems redundant to have a special day for this. But, it never hurts to remind those who don’t value their animals and pets as much to give them some special attention today.
For those of us who are lucky enough to have a special loving relationship and love our dogs, cats, birds, horses or other pets every day, today perhaps we could do something just a little extra. Throw the ball a few more times, make the walk a little longer, spend a little extra time at the dog park, give an extra special food treat to your pet or any number of other things to make your friend know they are extra special and very, very loved.
If you have a pet and you don’t know their birth date, maybe you can make February 20 their un-birthday celebration and do something special with them. If you have been thinking about adopting a pet, perhaps you could make this day a really great one for a lucky animal by rescuing them from a shelter. Your rescue pet will be forever grateful.
No matter how long it lasts, our time with the special animals in our lives is always far too short. So show your pet some extra affection today. Both you and your pet will be glad you did.
