Why are Dogs Shooting Us?

"I swear I didn't know it was loaded!"I ran across a story recently about a hunter who was shot by his dog.  Yes, you read that correctly shot……by his dog.  The story rang a bell because I seemed to remember reading about another hunter who was actually shot by his dog and died from his wound.  I had a funny feeling that there might be a trend here so I went looking.

I must say what I found surprised me.  Is seems quite a few dogs have been shooting their human hunting companions.

I do not know the owners of these dogs.  However, I would say a lot of animals in the world have justifiable reasons for shooting humans.  Unfortunately, we seem to see stories of cruelty every day to back up this statement.

Then another idea struck me.  What if these dogs were just trying to figure out the guns so they could pass the knowledge on to other animals like wolves, bears and wild horses?  Perhaps the animal kingdom has grown tired of putting up with our cruelty and has decided to take matters into their own paws or hooves.  These dogs that are shooting hunters may just be the first wave in a larger offensive.

Seriously, these incidents tell us how dangerous guns are.  It is never safe to leave a loaded gun laying about, even if the only one around is the dog.  You just never know when something will happen.

You can draw your own conclusions as to whether or not this is a trend :)   I am also sure there are a lot more examples of this phenomenon.
