Save Bear Cubs From Hunters

November 30, 2009 by: fluffyfeet

Bear_cubI received this email from Care2 Petition Site and wanted to pass it along to readers of this blog.  Personally this type of cruel slaughter makes me sick.  Russian hunters killing mother bears and leaving the cubs seems to me to exemplify the word cruelty.  I rank this abuse right up there with the Canadian baby seal slaughter.  It is just that cruel and inhumane.

One of the saddest things is this is direct human behavior, not climate change or loss of environment, just plain human mean with a capital M.

The letter is below.  Please follow the links to sign the petition.  Let’s see what we can do to get this behavior stopped.

In Russia, 4,000 bear cubs are left orphaned every year as a result of the cruel practice of den hunting.

Stop the winter slaughter of hibernating bears! »

During the winter, hibernating mother bears are lured out of their dens by dogs to be shot and killed, leaving their infant cubs motherless.

Most of these homeless bear cubs are then abandoned and left to die, although some end up as pets to local villagers, while others are taken as cruel props for entertainment or to be eaten in restaurants

These bears are from the last healthy population in the world, and you can help save them: urge Prime Minister Vladamir Putin to end the cruel practice of den hunting! »
