This year has certainly sped by and now Thanksgiving is tomorrow. It seems hard to believe, but I know its true because I can read a calendar and I am in a cooking frenzy so it has to be Thanksgiving.
Sometimes it seems we don’t have a lot to be thankful for. But if we look around us we see that we are really very blessed. I know the economy is down, but it is coming back so I hope all of you either have good jobs or find one in the very near future.
In my mind, I only have to look at my dear cats to be very thankful. Thankful that they found me and thankful they do me the honor of staying with me when I know they don’t have to. I am also very thankful for the attention, companionship and yes, love they shower me with. I know every pet owner feels the same way toward their pets.
If it is possible for any of you out there to go to a shelter or rescue and adopt a pet over this weekend, you would make a very big difference in a lonely animals life and you can bet they would be thankful. So would you because of the love you would receive.
I’m going to bake pumpkin pies this afternoon in preparation for tomorrow. Fresh cranberries are boiling on the stove for sauce and I am doing all the things that I can ahead of time to pull off another turkey day dinner with all the fixings. Homemade dinner rolls, great stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables and of course a wonderful free range turkey from a local farm. I can’t wait for dinner!
In the meantime, I just wanted to put up this post to wish my readers a very happy holiday. If you are traveling and taking your pets, please keep both yourselves and them safe. Last, but not least, don’t over feed your animals just because its Thanksgiving! Give them a treat or two and leave it at that. An obese pet doesn’t live as long and I know you want them around for a very long time, so take care with the over feeding.
