A little over a week ago I told you what Best Friends Animal Sanctuary had to say about Swine Flu and your pets.
Today I will bring you what the ASPCA put out about this subject in their November 20,2009 news alert.
I know that none of us want to be sick and of course, we do not want to pass any sickness along to our beloved pets. Dogs, cats and other animals are so important to us. We must do everything we can to care for them and keep them safe.
Here from the ASPCA are some common sense steps you can take.
A little common sense will go a long way in decreasing the likelihood of passing the illness on to your pets. If members of your household are exhibiting flu-like symptoms, the ASPCA recommends protecting your pets by:
- washing hands thoroughly,
- covering coughs and sneezes and
- avoiding close contact with pets during the course of the illness.
In fact, if you’re sick, it’s a good idea to give your pets a place other than your bedroom to sleep at night until you get better.

I hope all of the readers of fluffyfeet will stay well during the flu season and avoid contracting the Swine Flu. Of course, it goes without saying I want the same for your animals.
