4 year old, female greyhound named Grace. August 8, 2007 Author Neurodoc
This is the story of Jasmine, a rescued Greyhound in Warwickshire, England. This dog is inspirational and beautiful. I can only wonder why she was abused and abandoned, but, I have never understood the kind of heart that can do that. Just so you all know, this is a true story.
I have said it before and I will say it until the day I leave this earth. Animals will never, ever cease to amaze me. Jasmine is another of those amazing animals that do things that are so good and so kind, you just wish that people could learn from them. Dogs have an amazing propensity for understanding and love. This special greyhound is no different except that her empathy for other animals may be stronger than we typically see.
Long story short, in 2003 Jasmine was found by Warwickshire police locked in a garden shed and abandoned. She was whimpering and cowering.
In an act of kindness, the police took the Greyhound female, to the nearby Nuneaton Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary, run by a man named Geoff Grewcock and known as a willing haven for Animals abandoned, orphaned or otherwise in need.
Geoff and the staff of the sanctuary went to work with the goals of winning Jasmine’s trust and restoring her to full health. It took some time but both goals were eventually reached. They then turned their sights on finding Jasmine a good forever home. But this special Greyhound had other ideas.
Jasmine somehow became the animal welcoming committee for the sanctuary and no one is entirely sure how it happened. But now whenever any animal of any kind is brought into the sanctuary, it is Jasmine that meets them, greets them, probably speaks to them in their own language and puts them at ease. She then watches over them for as long as needed. She is mother to all who enter the sanctuary.
This is such a beautiful example of how animals behave, communicate and get along. You can read the rest of the story and see lots of pictures at the link. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I also hope you are as awestruck by Jasmine as I am.
