Beautiful German Shepherd Dog
Anyone who has been reading this blog for a while knows that I have a very soft spot in my heart for Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. They rescue an astounding number of animals and find good homes for many of them. You also know that I have a special place in that same heart for the German Shepherd Dog Breed. So, of course when I read the story of Chico the German Shepherd Dog that ended up at Best Friends, I just had to bring it to my readers attention so you can share in this wonderful story too.
After you read about Chico, if you can find it in your budget to help fill some of the items on the Best Friends wish list, I can assure you everything you donate will be put to the best of use to help the animals there. When I say animals, I don’t just mean dogs and cats. Best Friends rescues horses, burros, mules, snakes, lizards, birds, bunnies and any other creature that is in need of help. It never ceases to amaze me that they rescue so many and such varied animals. I don’t know how they do it, but they do.

Chico the German shepherd has an interesting background. He was training to be a police dog for the local sheriff department. Part of that training involved searching for narcotics. Chico was cruising along great until his trainer noticed he was having some agility problems. Now and again, one of his front legs would give out.
