The
name Utah comes from the Native American Ute tribe and means ‘people of the mountains.’ This is appropriate because Utah is packed full of mountains plus its 11,000 miles of fishing streams and 147,000 acres of lakes and reservoirs.
Picturesque and scenic are words that seem too small to describe this state. Utah has 5 National Parks. They are Arches, Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef. It also has 6 national forests; Ashley, Dixie, Fishlake, Manti-LaSal, Uinta and Wasatch-Cache. As if that wasn’t enough, Cedar Breaks, Natural Bridges, Dinosaur, Rainbow Bridge, Grand Staircase-Escalante, Timpanogos Cave and Hovenweep are the National Monuments in Utah. Then of course there is Great Salt Lake which covers 2100 square miles with an average depth of 13′.
It seems impossible to get bored with the natural beauty in Utah. Arches National Park near Moab, Utah alone has over 2,000 natural stone arches. That would take a long time to just see, let alone get tired of.
It seems like a wonderful place to take your pet on vacation with you to hike or just take in the scenery. If you people in Utah don’t have a pet or have need of companions for the pets you do have, get to your local shelter or rescue and fill out adoption papers. In no time you will have a buddy or two to share all the splendor.
