South Carolina was the first state to secede from the Union on December 20, 1860. The first shot was fired and the first battle of the same war was fought at Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861. Today Sumter has the largest Gingko farm in the world. Perhaps we should all take the Gingko so we never forget the tragic history of the area.
South Carolina’s Grand Strand covers the 60 miles from Little River to Georgetown with Myrtle Beach as its hub. It is known throughout the world for its white sand beaches and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States. The Grand Strand offers everything you could want in a vacation with great places to stay, golf, an active night life and absolutely beautiful beaches.
The state of South Carolina has two mottoes. The first is ‘Prepared in mind and resources’, and the second is ‘While I breathe, I hope’. The second perfectly describes what you see in the eyes of pets in animal shelters. Depending on the facility, they may not have many more breaths to take. So get out there and adopt one or more of these needy animals. Spend a little bit less on the perks of the beach and a little bit more on a deserving pet. You will never regret it and your furry friend will always be thankful.
